CCS: Summit Main 5.24

Thankfully the weather held off for an awesome weekend at Summit Main for the CCS Festival of Speed.  Finally the first race of the season, the first time to really try out my new leathers and boots, and a great welcoming back to racing.

Domo visits a local shrine

Wash your hands, bow and climb up the stairs.  Come see what Alex and I found whilst conquering the mighty Matsudo Island, a secret wooded area in between the sea of train tracks that filter through Matsudo station.

As everyone slept late from a night of debauchery we decided to go for a mid morning stroll and found this local shrine hidden in the corner of an industrial complex and the highway.

Domo might have met his match

Domo is a man [thing?] of many talents.  For his respective size he has climbed mountains, toppled governments, and even been known to take on the odd badger now and then.  One lesson he has not learned is that, no matter how delicious it may look, you cannot drink three times your weight in beer.

Domo takes on Yodobashi Camera

What is nine stories tall, has 260,000 sq. feet of electronic wares,even has it's own theme song, a cover version of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"?  Why none other than Yodobashi Camera - Akihabara!

Domo at SushiZanmai

How could you not know about Domo's true love of sushi? Look at those chompers, that devilish grin.  He thoroughly enjoys devouring the raw fishes.

Of course what you are witnessing is the awesomeness that is Sushizanmai of Tsukiji.  By far the greatest sushi I have ever put into my mouth [err Domo's mouth...].  Not to mention the awesome atmosphere, crazy sushi men shouting hello, and of course bottomless green tea. (:

Domo's first Ramen

Domo had a very exciting week recently where he had the chance to fly all the way to Japan to celebrate Golden Week!  His first story is of his 'hunt' for ramen in the city of Ueno at about 10pm.  You would think that a country that has as many ramen shops as Japan would have no problem providing such a store, however for some reason he was hard pressed to find one that would fit his distinct culinary tastes.

Thankfully after a few hours of hunting he ran across a delicious miso ramen which he quickly devoured.

My daunting project

My next project has reared it's head, and it looks like a tough one.  Psynautic talked me into a rather neat idea.  I am going to attempt to build a GPS lap timer for my race bike.  The concept is rather simple and will require some great coding on our parts to interpolate the data and get a nice interface to display it.  The problem is the hardware requires some heavy soldering of which I am rather rusty, and the parts... well lets say they're a little tiny.

What you can see is the GPS receiver in the lower left, the Arduino board [brain] in the lower middle, and the start of a GPS 'shield' to connect the two in pieces above it.  I'll keep you informed as it comes along to be sure, but it will be slow coming.

When I got back from my recent trip to England I received an awesome surprise.  Jenn painted a new picture for my TV room.
