I know it might seem like a subject that I am harping on, but the dress code of this company still strikes me as rather odd. I can understand having the people at my level as well as the engineers in slacks and polo shirts; hell, maybe even jeans on casual friday. There isn't a visual presence that really exists outside of our company too frequently. We're behind locked gates... who is going to come visit?
What really gets me though, is that there is no line above me where that changes. I never had a good way to show or prove this, but I found one this morning.

The person in this picture is the systems senior vice president and chief financial officer giving a presentation (as you can see). Doesn't it strike you as slightly odd?
So I am not to sure what I should do. I'm starting to feel the Steve Job mentality... he wears jeans to work everyday and chooses to value his work by his output, not his appearance, but there has to be a change in the way your superiors look at you... and maybe it's even for the better.

As a contractor, I always need to dress at least 1 step better than my clients. so this means i'm wearin polos and slacks while the clients get to chill in jeans and tshirts, or i'm noosed up in a tie because another client might be on base someday this week...
cant we all just work naked?
wait a second, i work with all dudes and ugly women. thats not such a good idea...

oh for goodness sake.. he looks fine! it's business casual.. granted people don't usually do business casual during presentations, but a lot of managers think by dressing down they would be more approachable. what he's got is totally normal. especially for an internal presentation. if he wore that to present to a client group, then be worried.
