Music and RPGs

So I've had a surprisingly large amount of mental time while working out here. I guess I've reached that psuedo-burntout point where I can justify taking 10 minute breaks every hour to keep my self from asploding. This is one such mental down time break.

One of the gifts I got for myself in preparation for this 6 week trip was a sexy portable LaCie HD. (thanks again psynautic for the phone-in sales support) I had made the decision not to bring two laptops, and seeing as how I needed to bring my work laptop, that decision was quickly made. So to keep my sanity I dumped most of the media from my personal computer so that I had a full repertoire of music, videos, and personal documents to keep me entertained for the trip.

Seeing as how I don't have to worry about the feeble battery on my iPod now, I've been going through about 8 hours of music a day while being here at work. The occasional telecon or lunch break keeps me from listening straight through my entire work day. I've quickly run through most of my music, but on folder I hadn't listened to, and have not seen in a while was my 'Final Fantasy' folder. In it is a few of the albums that impressed me relating to FF music. The Black Mages, Final Fantasy VII Piano collections, Symphonic suite as well as a direct rip of FFVII sounds. I never remember how much I love Final Fantasy.

So my free time has been spent listening to clips and reminiscing about the memories associated with them. It's been a long time since I've played an RPG, let alone a Final Fantasy. I started on VI around November, but never spent the due time it deserved. I miss that, I miss playing Zelda and Final Fantasy, and Chrono Trigger and the great games that took weeks to beat. Weeks where you would be completely engrossed in them, dream about them, talk about them. I think it's about time I started RPGing again.
