Sure it looks like some strange sex/cowgirl/mechanical bull cross breed, but the theory is that as the misshapen contraption undulates and rocks between your thighs, your body uses muscles to stabilize yourself and remain seated.
The thought of trendy asian women going home to their small flats to sit on these mechanical bulls in an attempt to be a little more fit gives me a child like chuckle I've not had in a long time.
Of course as Mister Golden is showing, a metal head bearded fat man on it does illicit chuckles, but of a completely different variety.
