I solve problems.

When I first attempted to describe my job it came out something like this:
"Well I go abroad to the UK to the users and discuss the tool set with them, understand how it works and then take their complaints, bugs, and suggestions and bring them back to the programmers for working." It didn't take me long to realize that my job sounded strangely familiar.

"Well, look, I already told you. I deal with the goddamn customers so
the engineers don't have to!! I have people skills!! I am good at
dealing with people!!! Can't you understand that?!? WHAT THE HELL IS
WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!!!!!!!"

I had a moment of clarity today as I was enjoying my mid afternoon constitutional around the campus. I think my role has evolved into something a little more exciting.

CCS: VIR June 21, 2008

I guess I'm really behind the ball with this update, but I was waiting on some more pictures from Vadim and they never came.

I hadn't been to VIR is something like 3 years, way back on my F4i. Needless to say I am a completely different racer now, so for all extensive purposes I was learning a new track on a race day. It wasn't my idea of fun.

I started off the day running a session lap time of 2:10 and ended up finishing the weekend with times around 1:50 flat. There was a lot of improvement as the weekend went on.

Bicycle to Work day

Last week I got a chance to try out my new bicycle as a commuting implement. [I told you I got a new bicycle, didn't I?.. woops] It was a total blast. There is a very active [but poorly attended] cycling club here at work that is always planning rides around the area on the weekends. They arranged for a 'commute' to work complete with Police escort from close to my house and I thought, "Why not"

CCS: Summit Main 5.28

Wow, what a great weekend!

This memorial day I took off Friday and spent all day getting myself prepared for a full weekend of racing and boy was I excited. Jenn and Vadim were on their way back from work, and I had the car all loaded with about 2 cubic feet to fit Vadim into. [poor guy]. Not only was this weekend a chance for me to get to the track, but it was my first CCS race weekend. [Checkered flags, trophies, the whole 9 yards]

Flyers Playoff Beard

Well Bob, you wanted a challenge, so here it goes.
It is a well known fact that starting in the early 70s, NHL players would stop shaving during the playoffs as good luck charm. This quickly grew into a fad that the fans started partaking in, to wish their team good luck.

I have begun to cheer on the Philadelphia Flyers as they tackle Washington in the first round of the playoffs. It's been about 4 years since I attempted to grow out a beard... little did I know what I was getting myself into when I decided not to shave.
[This is after 5 days of playoffs]

As you can see there is the addition of the Zelda Hyrullian shield on the top tank of the bike, which Jenn and I painted on last night, in addition to the twilight princess wolf from before on the side. It looks AWESOME.

Summit Main - Nesba - March 23

As with any of my track days, there are always tons of stories to go along with this one. It was the first track day of the year and of course that adds a whole lot more of uncertainty.

So lets start off with getting the bike running. It wasn't. Thankfully my wonderful neighbor happened to hear my bike cranking over without any response and came to my rescue. 4 hours later after tearing most of the bike apart, shooting some ether into the cylinders, carbs, and airbox and replacing a few critical parts we finally got it running.

James: they do not work independently

Well this weekend marks the start of another great motorcycle season. My bodywork is back from the shop and the work is amazing. The body work has returned to it's original if not better condition. There isn't any real paint on the bike yet, as it has only be painted with a primer.

Painting Ideas

Although my bike hasn't changed much from the pic below, I have begun the mental work of trying to scheme out what the final painted product will look like. When the bodywork returns from the shop it will have a nice matte black primer coat that will be a perfect surface to paint. Jenn has offered to do some design and brush work to make it a little more fancy.

After some extensive brainstorming, I think I've decided on a distressed Zelda collage theme similar to this shirt:
