Programmer's Delight

there is a part of me that wishes i had never stopped programming. that the late night sessions of sitting up making bubbles.pas actually could culminate into something better than what i have now.

A long long time ago

I'm digging though old photos to grab some content for this project i'm working on at MFC. I found this roll of film, which was a great look, as it contained photos of the great Loyle Band party of.. god.. 97. It was neat, the goldens looked funny, Martin Gille looked young, there was even a picture of a Kinch, and you couldn't tell who it was because this was before facial hair. I ran into this though... made me reminescent more than any of the others.

Has anyone heard from any of these characters?.. and no.. I don't care too much to hear from Alicia.

Old Photos

In response to the ever popular "old photo" catagory on Rizrar.com, I thought it fitting to dig up one of my WORST hair styles of all time. As you can see here, the late 90s mullet in all of it's glory, along with Bob sporting the ever popular "CCM" hockey t-shirt that never left his back.

Ohh and that iMac poster was when they used to look like that.

Wanted: MTG Opponents

Who would have thought that Magic the Gathering would have remained as fun as it used to be!

It was very simple 'pre-made' deck on their new Ninth edition expansion "Champions of Kamigawa". As I'm a one color man, I picked up a simple White Creature type deck that seemed to suit my style. Unlike Dave I'm not big on the 'crazy f'd up blue white and red combinations', or bob's insanely stupid 'all artifact all the time' deck.

Just the joy of unwrapping the box and spreading the cards across the table brought a memory I had long forgotten back into my mind. After playing a few rounds to get the cobwebs out, the joy of tapping that clutch 3 mana to compleatly foil your opponents playing game just sent shivers up my spine.

I've now started reading up on the new rules since fifth edition as well as caught up on some news. Why did I ever stop playing this game in the first place?

The Longing

Back when I was out in Ohio, to say the least, I was hard pressed for company and friendship. One of the better examples of this, would be that I would drive 3.5 hours in each direction to visit the closest person I knew out in Indiana. We would have poker nights, play some one on one beiruit, and savor the few Yuenglings we could smuggle from previous trips to the 'real world.'

We used to reminisce a lot about what life was like back in the fraternity. He called it, "the longing", or that unquenchable desire to have things back the way they were. Sure we would joke about it, make fun of those who exhibited symptoms of it, and swell with empathy at the same time.

An old dream

Only a few people know this, but one of the first cars I ever lusted for (I belive the first was a Jeep CJ-8) was a DMC Delorean. I mean, how could you ever go wrong with something like that! Mid engine, all steel construction, and nothing but smooth unpainted crisp lines all over the car. 'Course it was a big difference from Shaun's Pacer which he wanted (and got) around the same time.

Anyway, Vadim and I ran across one last weekend. They're rare enough to be worth taking a picture of.

Music and RPGs

So I've had a surprisingly large amount of mental time while working out here. I guess I've reached that psuedo-burntout point where I can justify taking 10 minute breaks every hour to keep my self from asploding. This is one such mental down time break.
